We've found a veddy nice YouTube by K-Todd of the Pasadena Star News.
Apparently, finding the innovation in Pasadena GANGS is all the rage these days. Maybe all the gangs of Pasadena should get involved in city politics. It sure beats the price of spray paint and funerals!
From the Under The Dome blog comments this:
"I have walked the Rose Bowl as they are riding - and it's a little intimidating. Not only are they going so fast, but there is this pack mentality that creates fear. They are kinda like a gang - but instead of blue and red, with saggy jeans - they are all in tight spandex.
And they took their whole gang with them to the meeting - too bad the Council was bullied too."
Ohm me. Where's Lance? LANCE!

I am pro-peloton. I don't believe for a nanosecond that peloton-ers are trying to intimidate pedestrians. If Pasadena wants to tout itself as a world-class city, it may attract world-class cyclists. Madison's comment reflects a think-hyper-local, act-hyper-local attitude. I go to Redondo Beach to enjoy the beach...why can't a RB resident come to the Rose Bowl and ride? Let's call it the southern California exchange program.
I really don't have an opinion for or against peloton. I really don't think this issue is as important as it's being made out to be.
I also don't listen to anything Maserati Madison says because he's just a "part-time" City Councilman and a full-time jackass.
I don't understand why pedestrians are supposed to walk counter-clockwise. It seems against human nature. Most people there seem to walk clockwise, and it seems like a normal human instinct to walk in that direction. If a lot of the problems are a result of people walking clockwise and then needing to get out of the pedestrian lane to get around the people walking counter-cockwise, why not change the direction of the pedestrian lane to go along with what seems to come naturally to pedestrians?
There should be some way to accomodate the bike riders. How many large orange cones would it take to separate the walkers from the bike riders?
So, people hate them. They hate jazz. They hate the NFL. They hate UCLA. They hate AYSO and Villa Park soccer. They hate concerts. They hate anything and anybody that makes use of the Rose Bowl for something other than a glorified flower vase and walking path.
Maybe the library can use it for reading group meetings as long as they don't turn the pages too loudly or read anything thought-provoking.
D.
It is a safety issue, not likes or dislikes.
It's a basic "rule of the road." Pedestrians walk on the left shoulder of every road (not just counterclockwise at the RB) in order that they can see the oncoming traffic, be it a motor vehicle or a bicycle. This was taught to me at a very young age. If there's no sidewalk, walk on the shoulder against traffic. My guess is about 80% of the walkers, joggers, and runners at the Rose Bowl are ignorant of this. Who's not teaching people how to be a pedestrian around here!
