NW Residents Double Booked

Jacque Robinson has scheduled a District 1 Community Meeting for Thursday, May 8, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. at Odyssey Charter School, 725 W. Altadena Drive, in not-Altadena-but-Pasadena-because-it-is-on-the-north-side-of-
the-street.

At the exact same time, on Thursday, May 8, at 6:30 pm, the Northwest Commission is having a community meeting. In fact, the Northwest Commission has a meeting every 2nd and 4th Thursday. But this NW Com meeting has invited community members to give their input. From the announcement:

Northwest Commission Community Meeting
Thursday, May 8, 2008 - 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Jackie Robinson Center
1020 N. Fair Oaks Avenue, Auditorium

The Northwest Commission cordially invites you to participate in a community meeting to discuss the Northwest Community Plan. The Commission needs your input to identify priorities and goals that will benefit the Northwest Community. To attend, contact the Northwest Programs Office at 626-744-4791.

This is unfortunate. Someone made a planning error. That's okay, we all make mistakes. Can something be done?

It's called be being organized, experienced and prepared. You can't be working full time out of the area on a national Presidential campaign without it affecting your responsibilities at home. I applaud her committment to Senator Obama and the fact that she has seemingly endless opportunities with him in some capacity but it has to eventually come down to one or another. She is young, unencumbered and an elected politician. If DC is calling, answer the call with your future in mind. Sometimes the call is a once in a lifetime opportunity. You can always come home again, more experienced and with more ideas to better your community. God bless and God speed.

I had absolutely nothing to do with this schedule conflict. Leave me alone.
