Throw the new kids under the bus, man

I love how they send the new two out to research the possible new city manager. Is that so everybody else can blame them when it all blows up? Tyler's a sweet old dude and nobody'd blame him for a major fuck up in the selection.

New Pasadena city manager could be selected tonight (or might not be)

Riverside city officials are a little more open-mouthed about the Pasadena city manager job than Pasadena officials. The Riverside Press-Enterprise reported over the weekend that Riverside Assistant City Manager Michael Beck is a finalist for the Pasadena job.

A Riverside city official told him that Pasadena council members Jacque Robinson, Margaret McAustin and Sid Tyler spent Friday afternoon at Riverside city hall talking with officials about Beck.

Sounds to me like folks in Rivvaside like talkin' to the press. Not like elected and staff peeps in Pasadena.

Word of caution to Robinson and McAustin: Watch out for your council pals when they start gettin' hit with hard criticism. They're gonna ask you why you fucked it up.

Here: It's already startin' girlz. Watch yer backs:

This from a leader of the bitchin' biddies of Pasadena.

Dear Concerned residents:

Bob Kneisel lived in Riverside for many years and actively worked with preservationists in that city just as he has here. For those of you who do not know him, he helped to form Bungalow Heaven and the Neighborhood Coalition as well as save the Charles Francis Sander’s home. He has sent us the following information about Michael Beck, a candidate for Pasadena City Manager.

If you are concerned about Mr. Beck’s selection as City Manager, please call or e-mail your council member immediately. Time is of the essence. As you know, your council member can be reached by e-mail by simply writing the first letter of his or her first name plus the full last name followed by writing @cityofpasadena.net. To phone, the following field representative numbers might be helpful:

Mayor Bill Bogaard Assistant is Judy Kent 744-7147

District 1 Jacque Robinson Field Rep is Tina Williams 744-4444

District 2 Margaret McAustin FR is Margo Morales-Fuller 744-4742

Subject: Michael Beck is Not a Good Choice for Pasadena City Manager

Michael Beck, Assistant City Manager of Riverside, is being considered by the City Council to be the next City Manager of Pasadena. Mr. Beck has a very poor reputation among the historic preservation community in Riverside. The proposed Fox Plaza Project, which he has been a prime advocate for, would destroy seven historic buildings in Riverside's historic downtown. The Environmental Impact Report for the project was so deficient in assessing impacts on historic resources that the City has been sued for a California Environmental Quality Act violation. And the Request for Proposals sent to attract developers for the project failed to mention that there are historic buildings that would be in the way of the project. With this track record, Michael Beck would be a bad fit for Pasadena, where we save our historic buildings, and use them to enhance our economy. Pasadena needs a city manager who is on the side of preservation, not demolition.

I ain't sayin' who sent it to me. (And no, I ain't on that email list from Crystal "Save Pasadena from the culluds 'n the young 'n everybody who ain't a well-to-do old white lady " Balvin.

Glad you are there to share the emails from folks whose mailing list I have not made either!

Funny group of friends bitchin' Balvin has. Some of these are on city commissions.

I don't see the person who sleeps with the mayor on the list.

Two affordable housing leeches, um bunnies, a school board member or two, and lots of previously influential people.

Interesting list Cristle emails to in emergencies.

Surprised McCain's not on the list.

The crony list is pretty short.

That's heartening.

LOL Some mark from the Inland Empire wants to run shit in Pasadena?

Good luck.

Here's the talk on the street. Balvin is positioning herself to run for Tyler's council seat if he retires. Just what Pasadena needs, another anti-business, anti-Northwest Pasadena liberal council member who cares more for her cronies than the city as a whole. She wants to run for city council.

Good for Bob. I'm glad he spoke up.

Let's of course forget that there is a gang problem in Pasadena - that our Public Schools are falling apart - that the poor people of Pasadena who hold the menial jobs here can't afford to live here anymore ... let's focus on of course the big picture .... making sure that the old buildings are preserved... yeah and let's make sure we have another Bungalow Heaven because that is going to solve our problems ..

Someone knows who sleeps with the Mayor?

Anyone notice that the same people who are anti business are also anti Northwest? Hmmm the only logic to those positions being held at teh same time is that business growth creates jobs for all, including uh "those people"....

I cant wait to see Pasadenas "liberals" heads explode when Obama becoems President

I can't wait to see who runs for Mayor if Bill doesn't run in 2011. It will probably be a free for all with Madison & Haderlien cannibalizing each others votes. It will be the year of the "dark horse". Northwest Pasadena will hold the key as to who will be the next Mayor.

Here's a 2009 scenario:

Council hires Beck as CM.
Cristle Balvin and the preservo-nazis protest loudly and call for Beck's head.
Tyler doesn't run for re-election.
Cristle Balvin rides the wave of anti-governmentism to the D7 seat on the city council
When she's ignored by everyone else on the council, she flips out and becomes an elderly, white, female Isaac Richards.

Balvin leads Pasadena back to the head of the ranks of cities with jokes for government.
The rest of us see services fall apart, good employees abandon ship, cronyism come back to hiring, dysfunctional government.

It could happen.

Mike hit it on the head. If Balvin is elected to the council she'll be ignored and disrespected in the same manner as Jacqueline Robinson. That means that their respective districts also get no respect and will be ignored in regard to public services.
