Typical:
PUSD claims it got cheated by a contractor. PUSD's own records are so shoddy the police and prosecutor can't make a case but PUSD wants to spend $300K to $500K to sue a contractor they say cheated them out of $300K.
Great leadership from Tom Slimensky, er Selinske. The S-Nooze has this. Love his quote: However, PUSD may ultimately have to file a civil suit that could cost $300,000 to $500,000 to placate critics, Tao wrote in the confidential letter obtained by the Pasadena Star News.
"I think it is something we need to pursue," school board President Tom Selinske said Friday. "Wherever we can recover taxpayer dollars, that is my duty as a board member."
Michael Ammermon, a forensic accountant hired by the district, has alleged that contractors Eric Peterson and Jesse Yzaguirre improperly billed PUSD for at least $300,000 in 2006 and 2007 on repair projects at Washington Middle School.
Where were these people when PUSD's LEARNS staff was stealing money? Oh, yeah, they asked Pasadena PD to back off investigating.
Selective watchdogs. Just what we need!

PUSD isn't going to sue - just posture...they know if they sue it will come out that it isn't these contractors but PUSD employees and they don't want anymore egg on their face. It's much easier to point fingers at these guys....why do you think the DA keeps declining to file charges. PUSD is shameful.
Have they talked to a few law firms about the cost of taking on a case like this? The estimate sounds high. Even so, there is value to society in going after people who are accused of taking public money. Maybe there is another side to it that we all should hear. Press on!
Is there any wonder why no one wants to send their kids to PUSD? I voted for this Measure Y and remember going to to a public meeting about it and a parent stood up and said "Make sure that everyone is accountable for their actions in this. There is a lot of money at stake"
He was basically booed. He spoke to me after and told me that he was against it because it was not going to turn out well because there didn't seem to be a good system of checks and balences.
I wish I had gotten his name. I would vote him superintendant. He could see it coming but everyone was basically telling him to shut up.
first hand knowledge of this . the workers/contractors came and did the work quick and above the standard of the codes with passing full inspections and completing all construction . The fault lies with the district with the entree level paper work allowing subs to do work . The truth is the subs came in got the work done fast allowing the prime contractors to get their work completed . The subs were fast cheaper by one fifth the cost of allowing these small jobs going to bid at huge cost and avarage 7 months delay per bid and the addmin. cost to putting a project that cost 2-3 thousand would then cost around 60 thousand . Ammerman the accountant didnt check carefully the stories and misdirection and false info that he and the district was giving and then ran to the media for attention . The subs are currently looking to sue the district for thier false statements AND THE DISTRICT DIDNT PAY SEVERAL INVOICES for work completed that the subs provided and spent thier own moneies to complete . some one should ask about the $800,000 ramp project with 60% profit .This alone cost them more than the amount they say subs took. The fact is the district recieved the 300,000 of labor and materials even though they didnt pay 70,000 of the invoices and what did they pay Ammerman the accountant hundreds of thousands ? Noo wonder Ammermon want to keep this going , its a cash cow .
Millions spent by PUSD staff on personal items , Star Program huge success for PUSD
