Today Larry Wilson whines about no young people caring about the trees on Colorado Blvd. but misses the whole point: it wasn't important to people who really care about global warming.
The ones who really care are out doing something to make a real difference.
These days limousine liberals have been replaced with Prius driving enviro-poseurs. People who try to paint their cause with an enviro-brush. Won't work Larry. Here's a clue for you: Larry and the biddies can bitch all you want, but 30 trees make absolutely no difference to any environment. Not the local one and sure not the global one.
Nobody under the age of 75 bought into the enviro-argument? And Larry's surprised about that?
Maybe these biddies and their mouthpiece oughta think about how damaging they are to real chances to make a change when they cheapen the efforts of people who are making a difference by co-opting the global warming argument for their little petty power grab?
Who's really hurting the global warming cause?
Not the kids who are doing real things to make the earth cleaner. Maybe it's Larry and the biddies who trivialize the issue by tagging their tree crusade as a global warming issue.

Here's what I posted on Wilson's blog yesterday.
Perhaps young people are smarter than Wilson thinks. They saw the geezer crusade for what it was: some old biddies and an out-of-touch newspaper hack pawning off another grasp for political relevance as an environmental issue.
The young people were too busy feeding homeless, cleaning up Eaton Canyon, and promoting real change to get sucked into this stupid fight by a couple of irrelevant oldsters trying to incite people to confrontation over a handful of trees.
It's not that young people don't care, they're simply smart enough not to be deceived just because someone claims an issue is environmental.
Nobody was fooled, that's all that happened.
Mike
Do I hear an Amen? A-MEN!!!!
I think the young people were more concerned about the Barnes shooting.
Speaking about the Barnes shooting - so what happens now? The apathy is amazing isn't it? A few small protests and life goes on.
"....The apathy is amazing isn't it? A few small protests and life goes on...."
Barnes wasn't a very sympathetic character so folks don't care. Doesn't mean he deserved to be gunned down.
Perhaps if he were an attractive white girl his face would be on TV daily.
If Barnes was an attractive white girl he wouldn't be runnin' with bloods and carryin' a gun.
What happens now is the neighbors keep breathin' their sigh of relief the dude is gone from their 'hood and watch out for the other twenty or thirty just like him.
I live about six blocks from where the guy got shot and I'm safer now. Not that anybody deserves to get shot, I'd feel the same way if he was in jail.
Barnes was a bad dude who brought nothin' good to his neighborhood, Pasadena or his family.
Sounds harsh but it's true.
How would people feel about him if he'd got the gun out and shot the cop? Barnes was a thug. Nobody deserves to get shot and killed, but the guy brought it on himself.

".......Nobody deserves to get shot and killed, but the guy brought it on himself........"
Yup
Don 't get me wrong - everyone has skimmed over the fact that he was in the back seat of a car going down the wrong side of the road and having a girl in the driver's seat and he had a gun on him ... driveby possibly?
What I was refering to was that the problems and issues of NW Pasadena blend into the back ground until someone else gets shot.
Barnes had already tried to kill a cop a few years earlier. I am sure that the police were familiar with him - I don't think anyone deserves to get shot - but with that being said - it went down the only way it could have gone down.
The apathy I was refering to was the fact that gang/drug/poverty wars continue on in the NW and it's just become a part of life.
Golly geewhiz...I wonder how many trees are cut down to print the rag that Wilson collects his paycheck from? Wilson is a hypocrite at best.
