Our own Sharkey (aka Mike deLeeuw) got in a pissing contest with biddy-meister Larry Wilson's on the snarky dude's blog.
Snarky Larry took off after us anonymoose bloggers and Sharkey did the unmentionable: he signed his name to a post. Larry claimed to have somehow electronically outed Sharkey but got corrected by our own snarky Sharkey. Mike signed it on purpose and paid the price from Larry who got smacked down by the MAN, our own Sharkey.
Way to go, Mike! Watch out for Larry driving past your house in his Prius throwing water balloons at your kids.
Today snarky Larry's column had something about the LA superintendent Cortines trashing the S-Nooze but Larry hasn't got the guts to tell us what he said. Anybody know?

Reporters have gone to jail establishing the newsperson's privilege not to disclose sources -- resisting court orders to protect sources and their journalistic ethics. Why would anyone in journalism "out" anonymous posters, especially after offering anonymity to them in the posting feature. Because they disagree with them? It is a sure way to discourage any trust in the notion of an off-the-record comment and may even help to end the newsperson's privilege if the courts feel that journalistic ethics have changed and do not apply in the internet age. The Star News should not offer anonymous posting if they do not mean it.
Snarky Larry wants to scare anyone who disagrees with him away. He's just proving what an asshole he is.

As for the newspaper, I support them--all of them 100%. Or, I should say, I support journalism and what it means to keep an accurate record. All of the paper involved in advertising, etc. needs to go-- (sip)
I think Mr. Wilson and staff create a valuable product. It doesn't mean I agree with what they print or the tone, etc. His remarks stir the pot and that will bring in readers. He's not stupid. In fact, he is pretty smart despite what you may think.
Journalists don't have to be neutral but it is best (for us) when their product is not connected or does not hold an interest in a third party public institution, ie. school, church, police, state, etc.
News services should come from a disinterested third party but that is my idealism talking. (sip)

Is it better these days when most public institutions have PIOs instead of the old school getting information from moles, dumpsters, or schmoozin' officials with the remnants of ground axe dust weighing down their back pockets?
It's easier to blame the PIO instead of the person that did some bad thing against the public while employed at the public institution. But then, you're back to the same old problem as before; if the paper prints the nasty facts--will the PIO cut the reporters access? Well, that's doubtful, isn't it? I mean, that's the person's job--to provide access to public information.
Yet, lazy or inexperienced or overworked and underpaid reporters often parrot whatever the PIO puts out--never questioning or putting a critical thinking mind to it. Why is that? (sip)
One has to wonder who has a vested interest in keeping the problems with schools, young people, police, poverty, inequality, etc. going? This is just as bad as covering stuff up. Slant, ie. adding gratuitous ethnic information as a nondescript description--then justifying it by calling it "avoiding confusion."
Who manipulates information to $erve their $pecific agenda and to hell with anyone that get$ hurt in the proce$$? That's what gnaws at my gin soaked brain.

Sid Tyler even sent me a postcard once about how he thought the Sid Tyler Facts were weird but funny. I used to try to ask Jane Rodriguez out on dates. Nobody ever tried to "get me on their side" or "latched" on to me. No politician, no public official, no newspaper. In fact, quite the opposite, Virginia - after I got a little too extreme, people distanced themselves from me..or just brushed it off as more "Proctor silliness".
I think you'll find, Virginia, if you actually take the time to do some research instead of blathering on like a derelict, that most people wanted/still want to be as far away from me as possible.

To compare me to AP is ludicrous.
I don't write profane, racist, sexist slander on my blog. Slander that people go to the Police about.
I don't use this slander to attack Liberal politicians, children or people of color.
Aaron Proctor never defended anyone but his friends, while I have been working overtime to defend kids from the copious attacks they have received by our press (and bloggers) for many years.
So, since these are the facts, for all to verify, lets take one minute to think about WHY.
Sadly it appears that it all boils down to private schooling.
Corporate schooling wants to quash public education, especially in Pasadena where we have 50 private schools.
Corporate media uses yellow journalism to bash its opponents and sway public opinion.
Corporate media, with its representatives and paid advocates like our paper's editors - talk about paid positions! - advances corporate America, and that means a bottom line of Profit,
and nothing else.
Certainly the educations of ALL children (equal educations) is of no interest at all, there is no profit in it.
The incredible, hostile defensiveness of some private school parents (like Angel Bec) comes from the desperate need to feel like they have made the right decision for their children, a need so great they expend vast amounts of time spewing hostility,
under the guise of anonminity, which makes it so much easier. How nice to have zero accountability for your ugly comments!
I blame Rene Amy here. His disgusting hate-blog has been trashing PUSD since 2001 and he can be held directly accountable for the huge quantity of Hate we are seeing here.

I know this because you have missed opportunities to attack me, on writing style, i.e. Miss H put an "a" where an "o" ought to go. Why? A Dicken's character such as she would never screw up like that unless it was intentional. Miss H is all over wordy strife. She'd crankily say this: You used "whose" in a possessive way, when it is always Who's in short form for 'Who is' (but who really cares). I mean, WHO CARES ABOUT WORDS, SPELLING and GRAMMAR as long as the student passes the goddamn tests at the end of the year, Miss H?
I fully support the ideal of public education. It's so important. We agree? It is also in need of attention--really positive attention and people, energy to surround it. We let it go in more prosperous times. We missed opportunities for improvement. Cops are on campus. Military recruiters are hounding kids. Teachers are forced to pound the kids with memorization of facts in order for students to pass the progression exams, or they lose their jobs.
A good teacher will lose his/her job if he/she actually teaches in a manner that allows students to digest/process the information organically.
I can't blame anyone for putting kids in private schools around here if the kids are at risk to be taken away to jail (not YALE) or are seduced by military promises.
Private schools have their problems, too. Insulation, mind control, whatever... Home schooling is not perfect either.
We have to do something to help our public schools but we can't do it by ignoring the problems, and painting over them in the Virginia Hoge style--not that I want your job. I mean, good for you and the Big Pharma paycheck-whatever. I never had a gig with Frederick's of Hollywood, nor would I want one. I am a whore, like you said, but I am a reformed whore. Redemption is always possible.

The big question to keep in mind:
How does a kid with no money, maybe no parents, get a good education? If there were no public schools: How does a kid get any education???
Some kids around here have never even heard of PCC but they've heard of Everest, and that sets them back in high interest loans--but they have a great ad campaign that talks of hope, future, of being independent.
Why doesn't PCC advertise? They really don't need to, but they do need to do some serious outreach.
How about getting together to open learning centers for all students to fill in whatever they are missing in their current educational scheme using the Dave Eggers model.

You are right. As trite as your sentence was - the thought is one of goodness. It's tiresome to beat the same situation to death when everyone thinks that they are right and not open to other's viewpoints. With that being said I am going to take my own advice and not get caught up in the baiting, games, etc.
